Becoming a mother without losing your magic

My dear reader, you became a mom or you have been for a while. So know you know it´s the most complicated job in the planet. Yes, I am exaggerating. I have seen those fishing tv shows where they actually describe “the toughest job on the planet” but heck, being a mom is hard.

If you are not planning on reading the rest of my words, these are the cliffnotes. Don´t lose anymore magic. Stay in touch with the girl you have inside. Be mystical, be innocent, be childish. Laugh and be naughty. The rest will unfold.

It sounds so easy I know. It is impossible to do this every day. Believe me, I´ve tried.

I truly believe women today have lost mystique, magic. Not all, and not all the time, some more, some less. But there are times, that in our eagerness to be perfect, we lose our sensitivity, our spirit, our innocence.

I guess our practicality, our organized brain and our thrive to be perfect feels safer.

Women of today have the responsibilities that they had before, plus the 2020 perfectionist wave.

It is not only the house, or the children, or work, or being healthy and strong.

It is also being active, eating well, being a super mom.

If we analyze it in depth, our reality invites us to lose that magic over being practical. Otherwise nothing will go well on Monday. I get it. I also sometimes lose my magic.

We don´t have to be perfect to be wonderful. A quote in my bathrooms reads. I look at ir everyday. Hoping it sticks.

“Well, Lorenza, if you are so certain about this, what the hell do we do,?” you may ask.

I have a theory that might help you.

If you contact your inner girl, magic will resurface.

Be contacting her, you will once again feel that the impossible can be done. Your five year old self, or your 9 nine year old self.

Try remembering that time in your life where you would spent hours dreaming about the future. About the possibilities. About different paths leading to different destinies.

I bet you, that if you contact that girl, the one that thinks she can reach for the moon, you will be able to balance your adult self. You will balance out the practicality being over 25 gives you.

Balance is key, balance is power. Balance will help you bring your magic back.

The force that gives you that innocence, is sometimes the push we need to carry out the daily tasks.

Magic, genius, not forgetting to dream. Not remembering what we have lost.

For example, I love dreaming that I win the lottery. I think every time I buy a ticket what I would do with so much money. What gifts would I buy, what house would I buy, etc. These ideas change at every stage of my life. Some years ago I would have bought luxury handbags, today I think about my son’s tuition. I know the odds of me winning the lottery are very slim. That doesn’t stop me from dreaming. My dreams cannot be linked to the possibilities I have of achieving them. They are that, dreams. This exercise helps to keep my adult in check.

By being a kid again, I resolve my issues as and adult.

Try doing it, let me know.
